by Jody Scheckter at 11:55 pm, Oct 19 Max Verstappen continued his charge with a Sprint race win and an untroubled U.S. Grand Prix victory, his fifth of the year, further reducing his deficit to the McLaren drivers who will be quite worried the Dutchman might yet catch and surpass them for the driver's title.

Lando Norris limited the damage of crashing out of the Sprint race with his teammate the day before, by coming second in the Grand Prix, while Charles Leclerc managed a good third place result, after a seemingly poor start to the weekend for the Ferrari's. Oscar Piastri had another poor weekend, failing to podium for the third straight race, and his overall lead is now only 14 points from Norris and 40 from Verstappen.

Verstappen's form will also be giving hope to Red Bull Racing that they could catch and surpass Mercedes and Ferrari for second in the constructor championship.

The day's FF1 spoils are shared by 1 Max V, Arun, Lewis H, MahkMahkez and TheRealDP who all picked the Grand Prix's top six finishers.

Overall, Zan4774 still holds the lead, but Suyash closes the gap and moves back into second, and Lewis H jumps back into third while lightsOUT plummets from second to ninth.

The F1 circus travels from Austin to Mexico City next weekend, and a track Piastri will need to do much better at than in previous years when he came eighth in both 2023 and 2024. If not, look for the driver's championship battle to get even tighter.
