Welcome to the 2026 Fantasy Formula 1 Season!

edited by Jody Scheckter at 6:17 pm, Jul 26 Lando Norris demonstrated that his pole position was not just a flash in the pan, as he converted it into his first win of 2026 by dominating the Hungarian Grand Prix after his teammate had to abandon the race due to gearbox trouble. It had been a while since we last heard talk about Papaya Rules, but Oscar Piastri passed Norris on the second corner of the race and it wasn't long before Norris was making his case that he was the faster, as team rules supposedly favored Piastri leading him. In the end it didn't matter with Piastri falling out.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen, ever critical of the car under him, somehow managed to wrestle it to a strong second, while season leader Kimi Antonelli in third held off the Ferraris, which were favored by many but unable to make their speed and strategy work, as both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc battled behind cars on track and never enjoyed clean air.

Suyash chose the big hitters and takes a resounding round win, but Jellybeanz also played big for second and 3 Max V earned a solid third.

Jellybeanz keeps the lead overall, but Suyash jumps two positions into second, dropping Jim Clark one more rung to third.

We now have a four week break until F1 resumes again in late August in Holland, but it has been announced that the previously cancelled Bahrain Grand Prix will now take place the week before the Singapore event, i.e. five races from now, but in Malaysia at the Sepang International Circuit. F1 hasn't raced at Sepang since 2017, but it was Hermann Tilke's first F1 track, and it will be interesting to see how the current iteration of cars will fare on a track last won at by Verstappen, four years before he won his first World Championship.

The change will also impact FF1 participants who will have to spread picks across another race. Look for sperry to make the necessary adjustments needed to include the race in the schedule over the coming weeks. With the war in Iran still a long term possibility, Qatar and Abu Dhabi remain questionable, and it is possible only one of them would be replaced (perhaps by Imola). We'll see!

Italian Grand Prix 06 Sep
FORMULA 1 PIRELLI GRAN PREMIO D'ITALIA 2026
Monza, Italy Event Description: Race Distance: 53 laps, 306.720 km

As one of the three circuits on the schedule that were also on the schedule back in 1950's first F1 championship, Monza is one of the quintessential F1 tracks. Built in 1922 it featured an incredible oval and a high-speed road course. Today the oval is unused, and the road course has been drastically slowed with chicanes for safety, but remains the fastest track on the Formula 1 schedule. Long straights result in special low-drag bodywork for the race, giving the cars the top speed needed for low lap times, but also means low grip in the corners that test the drivers' skill.
