by Jody Scheckter at 10:21 pm, Oct 26 After Lando Norris' DNF at Zandvoort left him 34 points adrift of Oscar Piastri in the championship standings, the Brit has outscored his teammate in each of the ensuing five races, culminating in a dominant victory in Mexico City that has now given him a one-point lead.

The victory was also McLaren's first since Piastri's in Holland gave the Aussie what seemed at the time like a comfortable margin. Since then, however, his results have kept him off the podium each of the last four races, and allowed a resurgent Max Verstappen to shrink a 104 point deficit to just 36 points, giving the Dutchman an outside chance over the final four races of pipping the two McLaren drivers to yet another title.

On this day, however, Max had to settle for third, as he was unable to reel in Charles Leclerc at the end of an eventful race due to an ill-timed Virtual Safety Car, giving the Ferrari driver his second podium in a row, and keeping the Scuderia just ahead of Red Bull in the battle for "next best" in the constructor's championship.

sperry is the winner of the round by a wide margin, as Arun and MahkMahkez share second.

Overall Zan4774 manages to stay in first, despite taking an intentional drop, but the lead has now dwindled to 32 points over Suyash, while Lewis H does enough to remain in third.

F1 heads to South America for a Sprint Race weekend in Sao Paulo in two-weeks time. Although there are only four more rounds, two include Sprint races, meaning there are a bunch of points still out there to be won, and still one more drop to be applied. It is interesting to note that last year's winner averaged just over 62 points per round, and our current leader has an average just under 58 points. When all is said and done, it looks like this year's winner is likely to have fewer points and have picked fewer winners than in 2024, suggesting that 2025 has turned out to be a more difficult year to predict.

The race at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, otherwise known as Interlagos, which literally means "between lakes", is situated on a hilly, swampy area between two lakes near Sao Paulo, Brazil, resulting in a track with lots of elevation changes and notorious bumps.
