Kimi Antonelli won a less than exciting Spanish Grand Prix at the new Madring circuit in Madrid, with Max Verstappen taking second and Lando Norris third. Norris had been leading and pulling slowly away up until an early Virtual Safety Car period that began just after he had passed pit entry, and that lasted only long enough for his on track rivals to pit. On a track where you'd think track position would not be something to give up willingly if given a choice, McLaren chose to pit anyway, which dropped Norris back to fifth, and with overtaking next to impossible, that was the race. This is on the track designers. One can only hope they'll find ways to improve the track for next year and beyond. Antonelli now has eight F1 victories, all this season, which is one more than his more experienced teammate has to his name.Alessandro Zuccarello wins the round, edging Pastor Maldonado in second, with Jody Scheckter and Prost! much further back sharing third. While those participants each make moves up the standings, Jim Clark pulls out a bigger lead at the top, with Suyash falling back but with a big advantage on Arun who moves up two positions into third. F1 next travels to Baku in two weeks for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, another street circuit that's produced some more interesting results in the past. We'll also be keeping tabs on the status of Isack Hadjar to ensure the driver lineup is updated promptly should he be cleared to race. Make note that standings will reflect a third low score drop after that race.
