Lewis Hamilton finally broke through at Ferrari by choosing a three pit-stop tire strategy and benefiting from a well timed virtual safety car to minimize pit-time, to win at Barcelona and secure a famous first win with the Scuderia. The victory, coupled with second place finishes in the prior two races, suggests that Hamilton could be Kimi Antonelli's main challenger this season, which few would have predicted after a terrible first season with the Italian team. The win breaks Antonelli's winning streak, and the final results gave hope to others as the young Mercedes driver retired from second late on with a dead engine, allowing George Russell to come second, and Lando Norris to fill out an all-British podium for the first time in 58 years. Despite scoring no points, the teenager still leads Hamilton by 41 points and his teammate Russell by 50.Kimi Haikunen edges Alessandro Zuccarello for the FF1 round win, as 3 Max V takes third. The three move up the overall standings, but Rob M just manages to hold on to first, with Jim Clark only a single point behind. MercedeezNuhts makes the largest leap to move in to third. The next race is in Austria in two weeks where Hamilton will be hoping to continue his good run of form.
