Europe 24-26 Jun 2011Telefonica Grand Prix of Europe Circuit de Valencia, Valencia, Spain Race Distance: 57 laps, 308.883 km Once again the European GP will be held at the Valencia Street Circuit in the port city of Valencia, Spain. Built out of the waterfront city streets, the track is similar to Monaco (and to Long Beach for US open wheel fans). The track features 25 corners and is relatively high-speed for a street course. Vettel took an easy win from pole, with Hamilton and Button in 2nd and 3rd. But the 2010 race is remembered for the spectacular wreck that saw Webber backflip his RedBull and the 10 penalties resulting from safety car shenanigans. Again Red Bull dominates qualifying, with Vettel continuing his run of poles, and teammate Webber taking 2nd. Hamilton grabs 3rd, while the Ferraris of Alonso and Massa will start 4th and 5th. Button round out the top 6, making it all Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari at the top. The top 10 in Valencia: VET WEB HAM ALO MAS BUT ROS MSC HEI SUT Vettel wins from pole, leading every lap, in a dominating performance. Behind him, Alonso puts in a brilliant drive to take 2nd from Webber while fighting off challenges from teammate Massa and Hamilton in front of his home crowd. Webber results in 3rd. Hamilton comes home in 4th despite having a car that seemed fast enough for a podium finish. Massa finishes in 5th a season-high so far. Button slips down to 6th after winning the last race.
