The Circuit de Catalunya is located near Barcelona, Spain. This track includes many different elements that require a car to be well-rounded and balanced at all speeds. Traditionally, passing is rare at the circuit due to the high speed sweepers that prevent a following car from being able to keep up because of dirty air.

For the 10th consecutive race at Catalunya, the pole sitter took the victory. Webber led wire to wire and gets the win. Alonso took 2nd in front of his home crowd. Vettel fended off catastrophe all race long to take 3rd. Qualifying Summary: Red Bull continues to dominate qualifying, but this time it's Webber on top for his 1st pole of the season. Vettel locks out the front row for Red Bull in 2nd, perhaps losing the pole position to his teammate due to a non-working KERS.

Alonso wrestles his Ferrari to 4th, right between McLaren teammates Hamilton and Button.

WEB VET HAM ALO BUT PET ROS MAS MAL MSC Race Summary: With an amazing start, Alonso leaped from 4th to 1st during the run down to turn 1, electrifying his home track fans. But it was not to last, as the pace of the Ferrari could not match that of Red Bull and McLaren over the long race.

As tire strategy shook out, Vettel made best use of his extra set of soft tires with very quick laps over short stints sending him into the lead by the time everyone had switched to the hard tires. From there he had to fight off a terrific push from Hamilton with only intermittent use of his failing KERS to protect against Hamilton's use of the DRS.

In the end, Vettel remained out front, with Hamilton a close second. Button's smooth driving style helped his tires last long enough to take 3rd.
