Turkey 06-08 May 2011Turkish Grand Prix Istanbul Park, Istanbul, Turkey Race Distance: 58 laps, 309.396 km Held at Istanbul Park near Istanbul, Turkey, this course is yet another Hermann Tilke special. Featuring a spectacular four-apex turn 8, the "Turkish Corkscrew" turn 1, and the "Faux Rouge" kink at turn 11, this is one of the few F1 courses that are run anti-clockwise, providing a little opposite strain on the driver's necks. RedBull and McLaren slugged it out at the 2010 race. But it all came to tears when RedBull teammates Vettel and Webber crashed into each other, allowing Hamilton the win and Button 2nd, while Webber limped in to 3rd. Red Bull dominates qualifying with Vettel taking four out of four poles this season. Webber qualifies 2nd, for the first Red Bull 1-2 of the season. Both cars were quick enough that after setting a single fast lap in Q3, they were able to sit out the second half of the session. Rosberg puts the Mercedes team's new found pace to use by qualifying 3rd. Hamilton and Alonso round out the top 5 with their familiar McLaren and Ferrari cars. The top 10 qualifiers in Istanbul: VET WEB ROS HAM ALO BUT PET MSC HEI MAS Vettel turns another pole into victory with a relatively uncontested run. Webber dukes it out with Hamilton and Alonso to finish 2nd for a Red Bull 1-2. Alonso takes advantage of a slow pitstop by Hamilton to nab the 3rd podium spot. Hamilton takes 4th over Rosberg in 5th, whose result seemed behind the expected new pace of the Mercedes. Kobayashi makes an incredible drive from dead last to finish in 10th, the final points paying position.
