Korea - 22-24 Oct 2010
Korean Grand Prix
Korean International Circuit, Yeongam, South Korea
Race Distance: 55 laps, 309.155 km

The only new circuit on the calendar for 2010, the Korea International Circuit has been in the works since 2006. Yet another Tilke designed course, KIC follows the latest design themes of blending the circuit into a waterfront along with several long straights and tight corners to challenge the car designers and drivers alike.
Qualifying on the new circuit was impressive, as lap after lap set by the top runners were new fast laps as the track rubbered in.

Red Bull locks out another front row by being last on the track in Q3. Vettel will start from pole, while championship leader and teammate Webber will start from 2nd.

Alonso was the only other driver in the 1:35's and will start 3rd. Hamilton starts next to him in 4th. The only other championship contender, Button, will start 7th after a lackluster qualifying session.

After 2 days of dry practice and qualifying, surprise rain turned the inaugural Korean GP upside down. Starting under the Safety Car, then quickly being red-flagged, the race was delayed by about an hour because the brand new pavement would not let water wick away from the road's surface. The resulting spray and standing water made the race impossible to run. After the delay and around 15 parade laps behind the Safety Car, the race finally began in earnest.

Vettel made good use of the clear view to run away from the field. Webber on the other hand potentially tosses his championship hopes away by touching a wet curb and throwing his car off track, collecting Rosberg in the process and ending both their days. Later Vettel too suffered the bad luck of team Red Bull when his engine failed with about 10 to go.

Alonso on the other hand was supreme. Both of the cars ahead of him dropped out, giving him the win after fighting off a limited push by Hamilton at the end. Alonso takes victory and the lead in the driver's championship.

Hamilton places 2nd, helping his championship chances by scoring lots of points when his opponents are parked. Massa slots in to take the final podium position. Schumacher gets a season-high 4th result, with Kubica coming on strong at the end to nab 5th.

Championship contender Button finishes out of the points in 12th after a day fighting with brake issues and backmarkers.
