Turkey - 28-30 May 2010Turkish Grand Prix Istanbul Park, Istanbul, Turkey Race Distance: 58 laps, 309.396 km Held at Istanbul Park near Istanbul, Turkey, this course is yet another Hermann Tilke special. Featuring a spectacular four-apex turn 8, the "Turkish Corkscrew" turn 1, and the "Faux Rouge" kink at turn 11, this is one of the few F1 courses that are run anti-clockwise, providing a little opposite strain on the driver's necks. Turkey is normally Massa's home away from home, as he's won 3 of the last 4 races there. But it was last season that Massa failed to win, and Button took the win away from Vettel who had the pole but made an early mistake. Vettel fell even further, down to 3rd, when a pit strategy snafu gave 2nd to teammate Webber. Not many surprises in qualifying, the exception being a 12th place start by Alonso as he fails to survive Q2. Good runs by Petrov and Kobayashi put them into the top 10 for Renault and Sauber. With a post-checkers spin by Schumacher cutting several peoples potential fast laps short, the qualifying results do not necessarily the true pace of the field. The top 10 qualifiers in Turkey: WEB HAM VET BUT MSC ROS KUB MAS PET KOB The race in Turkey may have been an all Red Bull vs. McLaren deal, but it was an incredibly tight race nearly the whole way. The opening lap saw Webber leap out for just a few car length lead while the rest of the pack duked it out, trading positions all over the grid. When things sorted out, it was Webber leading Vettel, Hamilton and Button all within a few tenths of each other for lap after lap. Unfortunately, it all came to tears when Vettel got a run on teammate Webber for the lead. Webber, likely the hardest man to pass in F1, put up a fight perhaps better reserved for someone other than his teammate refused to concede the position and the two Red Bull cars made contact. Vettel retired, Webber dropped to 3rd with a pit stop for a new wing. Not to be out done, the McLaren boys decided to trade the lead back and forth after just having it handed to them. They do however avoid contact and finish 1-2.
