The German Grand Prix swaps back to Hockenheim for 2010. The original 8km circuit built in 1932 was used for motorcycle racing and as a Mercedes and Auto Union test track. It was shortened and sterilized in the 1960's as several drivers lost their lives (the great Jim Clark died at the 1st chicane in 1968 in an F2 car). For the 2002 Grand Prix, the track was redesigned to its current Tilke configuration.

The last race at Hockenheim was in 2008 where Hamilton won pole to pole. Piquet took 2nd on luck, Massa 3rd.

Last year's race at the Nurburgring saw more RedBull domination with Webber and Vettel going 1-2, and Rosberg in 3rd. Qualifying Summary: It was a furious shoot-out in Germany, with the Red Bull and Ferrari cars finally on par with each other.

Vettel grabs yet another pole, but this time by just 0.002 seconds over the Ferrari of Alonso. Massa slots into the 3rd spot on the grid, Followed by Vettel's teammate Webber. The McLarens of Button and Hamilton will start 5th and 6th.

When Alonso made a move on the German, Vettel moved to pinch him off, opening up the way for Massa to pass both of them for the lead.

Massa went on to lead most of the race until Ferrari team orders (for which they were fined $100,000) required him to surrender the lead to 2nd place Alonso near the end of the race. Vettel maintained his 3rd place finish at his home race.
