Abu Dhabi - 12-14 Nov 2010
Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
Race Distance: 55 laps, 305.361 km

Abu Dhabi's futuristic new course at Yaz Marina Circuit will host the final round of 2010 as an evening spectacular.

The course is another Hermann Tilke designed track, with 21 corners running around the man-made Yas Island. Everthing about the track is mind boggling, including a part of the course that runs between the two towers of the track's hotel, and the pit lane exit that runs through a tunnel under the track itself.

Vettel and Webber capitalize on Hamilton's rear-brake failure and go on to finish 1-2 in 2009. Freshly crowned champ, Button finished on the podium in 3rd.
Webber slips up during Q3 and will start 5th in the final race of the season, with all 3 other championship contenders starting ahead of him. Leading the way is Webber's teammate and season-long qualifying dynamo, Vettel. Long-shot championship hopeful Hamilton will start 2nd. Points leader Alonso will start 3rd. Button starts 4th.

Going into the final race Alonso controls his destiny, if he can place 1st or 2nd, he will be the champion. Webber and Vettel have a shot if they win and Alonso is back far enough. Hamilton will need a win, and a 3-way catastrophe amongst the other contenders.

Sebastian Vettel wins the race and in doing so, wins the 2010 driver's world championship!

Making the best of his pole position, Vettel holds off all challengers by running a fantastic pace and wins the race. Teammate, and championship hopeful, Webber cannot make up for his poor qualifying pace and finishes in 8th place. Alonso, points leader at the start of the race, is stymied by a brilliant drive from Petrov in the Renault to hold him off nearly the entire race distance and finishes 6th, too far back for his point lead to hold up to Vettel's win.

Hamilton, the final championship contender, is also held up by a Renault, Kubica's, thus preventing him a real shot at the race win as he places 2nd.

But it was Vettel's perseverance that allowed him to come from 3rd in overall points at the start of the last race to take the championship lead for the 1st time all season, just in time to become the youngest F1 world champion in history.
