China - 16-18 Apr 2010Chinese Grand Prix Shanghai International Circuit, Shanghai, China Race Distance: 56 laps, 305.066 km The Shanghai International Circuit is another Hermann Tilke track featuring a pair of long straights with passing opportunities at their ends. Like the Malaysian circuit, the track features an interesting turn 1-2-3-4 complex where the drivers must navigate a long, sharply decreasing right turn, followed by a hard left hand hairpin. China in 2009 was full wet the full distance. Vettel demonstrated his car control skill on the way to a pole and win. Webber took second, making the race a 1-2 for RedBull. Button was 3rd. Any questions about Red Bull running an illegal ride-height adjustment system are put to bed as they dominate yet another qually session by locking out the front row, with Vettel on the pole. Ferrari teammates Alonso and Massa qualify 3rd and 7th. Rosberg out qualifies Schumacher yet again starting 4th to Schumi's 9th. McLaren teammates Button and Hamilton start in 5th and 6th. The top 10 for China: VET WEB ALO ROS BUT HAM MAS KUB MSC SUT Light rain throughout most of the race mixes up the qualifying order dramatically. Button and Rosberg stay out on slick tires while most of the field switch to intermediate rain tires, then back to slicks when they realize their mistake, giving them an edge. The rest of the race was full of lots of passing, two safety car periods, and lots of mixed wet and dry conditions. Button wins again on his ability to make tires last, switching just once from slicks to intermediates. Hamilton clambers through the pack after several tire stops to make it a one-two for McLaren. Rosberg holds on to 3rd place, his second podium in a row. Renault teammates Kubica and Petrov place above expectations in 5th and 7th.
