Round 3 Results:
Bahrain - 06 April 2008
Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix
Bahrain International Circuit, Sakhir, Bahrain
Event Description:
Race Distance: 57 laps, 191.530 mi / 308.238 km

Bahrain International Circuit is another wonderful, yet somewhat sterile track designed by Hermann Tilke. Located in the sands of Bahrain's desert, special sprayed on adhesive along the track's race surface helps to keep the dust down.

However, this track is notorious for worrying the F1 engine builders, as sand in the intake can wear out and destroy a Formula 1 V8 very quickly. As Bahrain is the third race of the season, most teams should be on a fresh engine meaning the dusty environment may not cause many motor failures, however this motor will have to be used in round four, so look for the possibility of failures in Barcelona related to this event.

In the 2007 race, Ferrari countered McLaren's domination in Malaysia with a fantastic drive by Felipe Massa who took the pole, fastest lap, and race victory. Lewis Hamilton continued to amaze with a second place finish, making him the first rookie ever to podium in his first three races. Massa's teammate Kimi Raikkonen placed third. This finishing order created the first 3-way tie since 1950 for the championship lead between Massa, Raikkonen, and Hamilton.
Qualifying Summary:
It's a BMW on the pole! Robert Kubica takes it to Ferrari and McLaren by setting the fastest Q3 lap.

Massa fills the second front row slot by driving like a man possessed due to his two DNFs in the first two rounds. Hamilton puts his McLaren in third.

Race Summary:
Robert Kubica's pole wasn't enough to stave off the Ferrari duo of Massa and Raikkonen. Right at lights out Massa was able to pass the BMW, followed shortly by Kimi.

But Robert was able to hold on for a podium finish, with Massa and Raikkonen giving Ferrari the one-two victory.

Nick Heidfeld brings the other BMW home in fourth, then the highest McLaren in fifth comes in under the piloting of Hekki Kovalinen, as Lewis Hamilton suffered a terrible start followed by a lost front wing finishes well out of the points.

Trulli, Webber and Rosberg round out the points paying positions.
