France returned to the F1 schedule in 2018 after a long hiatus. Circuit Paul Ricard was a popular F1 testing destination when it was constructed, known to be hard on engines. Today's circuit sees the long Mistral Straight interrupted with a chicane, and innovative abrasive asphalt instead of gravel traps.
