The final race of the season is traditionally held at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, otherwise known as Interlagos, which literally means "between lakes". The track is situated on a hilly, swampy area between two lakes near Sao Paulo, Brazil, resulting in a track with lots of elevation changes and notorious bumps.

The final race of the season in 2012 was an exciting one. Championship leader Vettel was hit in turn 1, forcing him to nurse a damaged car the rest of the way. Alonso clawed up to finish 2nd, doing nearly all he could to win the championship, but Vettel was able to make it up to 6th to secure the a 3rd championship in a row. Button won the race, Massa was 3rd. Qualifying Summary: Mixed wet/dry conditions force the teams to run every minute of qualifying, catching out those that delayed to get on-track, and forcing teams to make tough decisions about saving limited wet weather tires for the expected wet race.

Vettel nabs one more pole for 2013, with Rosberg lining up next to him on the front row. Alonso leads row 2 over Webber who is making his final F1 start.

After losing the lead into turn 1 to Rosberg, Vettel comes back to pass on the start/finish straight on lap 1 to retake the lead, a lead he would hold to the end, even with a bad pit-stop along the way.

Teammate Webber makes it a Red Bull 1-2, getting a 2nd place podium result in his final race. Alonso brings the embattled Ferrari team back to the podium to end the season.
