As a street circuit created from the city surface streets along the local harbor, the Singapore circuit is similar to Valencia. The course has a complicated 23 turns, and it run at night under a massive array of artificial lights in order to put the live television broadcast into prime-time for European fans. Last season, the two fastest qualifiers (Hamilton and Maldonado) dropped out from mechanical issues, handing the race to Vettel, Button and Alonso. Massa, suffering an early puncture, put in a career drive from last to 8th. Vettel once again dominates in qualifying, setting a Q3 time early in the session that stood up to the assault from the other drivers and giving him another pole position. Rosberg takes the 2nd spot on the grid, while Grosjean grabs 3rd in an upset as his teammate Raikkonen fails to make Q3 for a 2nd race in a row. The top 10 in Singapore: VET ROS GRO WEB HAM MAS ALO BUT RIC GUT Vettel grand-slams the race in Singapore, putting on nothing less than an utter demonstration of his complete dominance of the weekend. Even with a safety car period bunching up the field during the race, he still finishes with a 32 second margin over 2nd place. In that 2nd place is Alonso, who brilliantly comes from 7th to make the podium. Also with a fantastic drive is Raikkonen who comes from 13th to grab 3rd. Teammates Rosberg and Hamilton round out the top 5.
