The brand new circuit features a blend of very long straights, large elevation changes, and a very tight infield section to really challenge the drivers and engineers alike. The inaugural race at Austin took place last season. The 3 biggest names in F1 shared the podium for the 1st time ever with Hamilton wins over Vettel and Alonso, leaving Vettel with a 13 point championship lead over Alonso with just 1 race remaining. Vettel snatches the pole back from teammate Webber, setting up another Red Bull front row. Grosjean impresses with 3rd on the grid, as Hulkenberg shows how far he and Sauber have come this season to start 4th. Grosjean battles with Webber at the start to take 2nd place and holds on to the checkers with Webber on his tail to the end in 3rd. Hamilton and Alonso fight back from poor qualifying to finish 4th and 5th, while Hulkenberg slips from his great 4th place grid spot to finish 6th. Hero for the weekend, Bottas places 8th, scoring much needed points for the embattled Williams team.
