Vettel takes his 3rd championship in a row in a dramatic wet race in Brazil.
With a 56 point 2nd place finish in Brazil, curley moves from 2nd place to first for the fantasy championship win! curley's season began quietly, with missed picks in Round 2, leaving him to languish for most of the season in 6th place. But by careful driver management, he was able to avoid the points roller coaster felt by most in this crazy season, and save some good pick for the end of the season. Starting in Round 17, curley clambered up to the lead, averaging an incredible 61.25 points over the last four rounds to come from 7th place to the lead. This is curley's 2nd championship, and 3rd time in the money. Congratulations to our winner!
In similar fashion, Van sprints over the late rounds to sneak into 2nd overall. Winning the final round with 59 points, Van jumps up 3 places and into 2nd place money. Van spent most of the season bouncing around in the 10th-7th positions, but after a no-pick round in Japan, he steadily climbed from 9th, to 8th, to 7th, to 5th, and finally into 2nd place. Nice work Van, congratulations!
Rounding out the paying positions is Tahoe RX7. Tahoe RX7 had a slow start to the season, and a bumpy ride, with +4 and -3 position changes over the course of the year. But at the end when it counted, he finished as high as he'd ever been in 3rd, good enough to get paid! Congrats Tahoe RX7!
In a heart-breaker, RapidfireAZ drops from the lead to 4th in the final round. Having jumped out to an early lead, and holding that lead through 19 of 20 races, the points just dried up in the late rounds as his picks were exhausted. In the end it was a case of needing just one more big round, and no way to manufacture one. Nice job on a well fought season that was just a hair short of a winning one.
Rounding out the top 5 in the championship is owace. owace had a well picked season, but for a couple of just plain unlucky rounds, his end run at the lead could only peak at 2nd, and drops to 5th in the last 2 races. Another nice job, that just came up short in a very competitive season.
And with that, the 2012 season is complete. It's been a crazy one, with lots of different winners both on track and online, and our closest finish ever... with the top 10 all inside 100 points of the winner.
Based on the payout split of 50%/30%/20%, curley takes home $140, Van wins $84, and Tahoe RX7 pockets $56. Congratulations once again to our podium!
Thank you to all our competitors for an entertaining season. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did over this exciting year. Next year will be here before you know it, please join us in 2013 for what looks to be another crazy season!

The return of F1 to the United States is complete, and the race and track both were fantastic. Hamilton claws out a win over Vettel, and Alonso scrables from back in the field to make the podium, meaning we'll have a shootout for the championship this weekend in Brazil with Vettel holding a slim 13 point lead over Alonso.
Making the most out of the race in Austin is curley who pulls down 70 points, moving him up a huge 4 positions to 2nd place overall, just 10 points out of the lead. Van takes 2nd this round with 57 points moving him up 2 into 5th place, still within reach of the top. sperry and Tahoe RX7 score 3rd and 4th, both moving up a spot, with Tahoe RX7 moving into 3rd overall. MS3 rounds out the top 5 with a solid 48 point round.
RapidfireAZ still holds the lead, but is short on picks, making this season a tighter toss-up than the actual F1 championship. The final round of the season is upon us, we're wrapping things up from Brazil this weekend, get your final picks in place!

at 12:19 pm, Nov 5
It's nice to see that Kimi is still too cool for school even after finally winning in the Lotus.
Tahoe RX7 is on fire this week, grabbing the round win, 70 points, and rocketing up 5 positions overall to 4th, just 1 point out of the paying 3rd place position.
delongedoug has another good round, earning 58 points, and moving up 2 spots to 8th. sperry and Van tie for 3rd, at 55 points each, with Van jumping up a spot to 7th overall. curley rounds out the top 5, also moving up a spot.
Formula 1 returns to the United States in 2 weeks, as the first race of a season-ending American doubleheader. We race in Austin, TX then it's off to South America to end the season in Brazil. This is it folks, and the money at the top is still up for grabs with 12 people still mathematically alive for the top 3.

owace, the local Time Zone for the Abu Dhabi race was indeed incorrect, triggering the go-live ahead of schedule. I've made your requested change of HUL for ALO.

Vettel looks to be back in championship form with a dominant win in India, but Alonso continues to press on somehow staying competitive in a slower car.
Van knocks one out of the park in India, putting his cache of big-name drivers into play for a perfect round of 80 points moving him up a spot into 8th overall. Tahoe RX7 and delongedoug also have good rounds both scoring in the 70 point range.
curley, MS3, Motoring and MattR all move up overall coming in places 4 through 7. Whereas one-time favorite Nick has an off round and drops 4 positions to 7th overall, showing just how close the mid-pack of the championship is.
Out front, it's still RapidfireAZ and owace dueling for the lead. owace makes up 16 points this week, cutting RapidfireAZ's lead to just 34 points with 3 rounds to go.
The fantasy track in Abu Dhabi is this weekend, then we're on to Texas for the inaugural race at CotA. It's going to be a tight one, less than 80 points cover positions 3 through 11! Time to make those money winning picks!

With Red Bull's 1-2 finish ahead of Ferrari's 3-4 finish, Vettel takes a 6 point lead over Alonso in the championship.
Making the most of the Red Bull/Ferrari domination are Motoring and sperry who both picked the top 4 positions to take 70 points each and share 1st place this round. motoring uses the points to move up 2 spots to 6th overall.
delongedoug takes 3rd place with 68 points, MS3 4th with 66, and MattR and van in a 5th place tie with 65 points. MattR moves up 2 spots to 5th overall.
At the top of the standings, 2nd place owace makes up some ground on leader RapidFireAZ and stretches his lead over 3rd place Nick. Nick and Double Phister score 43 points a piece to remain just 1 point apart in the overall standings.
The GP of India is next, as the Asia swing heads towards the Middle East. Then it's on to the Americas to finish out the season in Texas and Sau Paulo. The championship is neck-and-neck... it looks like yet another amazing season will come down to the last race!

Vettel wins with Alonso crashed out, reducing Alonso's lead to a paltry 4 points.
Our own championship also tightens up, with owace and Nick gaining ground on leader RapidfireAZ. owace wins this round with 60 points, closing the gap between 2nd and 1st. Nick takes 2nd in Japan with 50 points, moving him up into 3rd overall.
Rounding out the top 5 this week is sperry and Tahoe RX7 with identical 49 point picks. Tahoe RX7's points are enough for him to move up to 5th overall.
The silly season has begun in earnest with the news that Hamilton will drive for Mercedes in 2013, taking the re-retiring Schumacher's spot. Perez will move to McLaren alongside Button, squashing the rumors that he was a shoe-in for Massa's seat at Ferrari. How will these known seat changes affect the rest of the season? We will find out soon, Korea is this weekend!

Vettel becomes a 2-time winner under the lights in Singapore as Hamilton's gearbox failure drops him in the championship.
Also winning in Singapore this week is motoring who locks down 70 points to move up a spot to 8th overall. Also moving up in the standings is Nick, whose 58 points is enough to jump up 2 spots to 4th as he begins his march to the top. Our two NASIOC folks delongdoug and owace tie for 3rd, with owace using the 55 points to grab 2 positions overall to get back up to 2nd place.
As we get down to the end of the season, the long-play folks are starting to make their moves. Things should really shake up in the standings as we finish out the standings. We're off to the fantastic Suzuka circuit in Japan in just 2 weeks. Start planning your season ending picks!

Hamilton capitalized on Alonso's poor qualifying position to win for McLaren at Ferrari's home track. But it was the impressive drives from both Perez and Alonso, both coming from deep in the field to make the podium, that provided an entertaining race.
MattR takes 1st place in this round, scoring 68 points on his selection of all the podium finishers. Van takes 2nd place with 62 points. motoring takes 3rd with 60 points.
Rounding out the top 5 are owace in 4th, who bounces back up 2 positions overall after a poor round last week, and Tahoe RX7 in 5th, who also moves up 1 spot overall.
With Italy complete, the season's European rounds are over. Next, we're off to Singapore for the annual F1 night race!

F1 is back from the break with a bang... literally... as Grosjean sets off a turn 1 fiasco that knocks Alonso and Hamilton out of the race and opens the door for Button, Vettel and Raikkonen to stand upon the podium. Grosjean will sit out next week's Italian GP as punishment.
With a healthy dose of serendipity, sperry not only manages to avoid losing any pics in the wreck, but is able to score 61 points to win this round of the season, moving up one spot overall to 11th. Also faring well with their BUT and VET picks are Nick and zpeed who tie for 2nd, as their 51 points nets them both a position overall. Tahoe RX7 and Lisa round out the top 5 with 50 and 49 points each.
After the month long break, the events will come quickly now. Just this weekend we travel to Monza for the historic Italian GP. Will Lotus' new wing be ready this time for the fastest track of the season? Or will Raikkonen have to settle for less than a win as Alonso pushes hard in front of the Ferrari home fans? Make your picks for Italy ASAP!

Hamilton's win was impressive, but it's Team Lotus with 2nd and 3rd that indicate that perhaps the future may yet include wins for yet another team.
Making the best of the surprise dry weather is delongedoug who wins his first round of the season with a huge 73 points. delongedoug jumps up 2 positions to 9th overall. owace and Tahoe RX7 tie for 2nd and each move up a position overall.
RapidfireAZ maintains his overall lead with a 4th place finish, ahead of his closest rival, Double Phister, who only scores 10th in Hungary. Van rounds out the top 5 this round.
It's time for the summer break. The season is just past the half-way point, and the teams now get a month to develop their cars before the incredible Belgium Grand Prix from Spa, September 1. Will the new pace of Lotus carry over and get them their first win of the season? Or will Red Bull bounce back from their recent scrutiny and end up back on top? Can Alonso's improbable championship lead be held? Things to ponder over the next 30 days!

The Hockenheimring makes for an exciting race, but none of the 5 German drivers could win at home as Alonso takes another victory.
With nearly everyone picking Alonso, it's Nick's selection of Button, Raikkonnen, and Vettel that puts him on top this round with 72 points, good enough for him to slot into 3rd overall, just 1 point behind Double Phister. zpeed takes 2nd with 67 points and moves up to 12th overall.
Double Phister is able to gain a little ground on RapidFireAZ by taking 3rd over RapidFireAZ's 4th place. Van rounds out the top 5 this weekend, scoring 54 points and moving up 2 spots overall to 8th.
Please note that the standings from now on will reflect the single drop for the season, so the results may appear a little skewed over the last event.
We're past the half-way point of the season now, and there's no break for the weary. We're straight off to Hungary this weekend, make your picks!

Rain shakes up qualifying, but Webber is fastest in the dry on race day, beating a hard driving Alonso to win his second race of the season. Alonso still leads the championship, but Webber tightens the race as they both stretch their lead over the field.
Similarly, Double Phister closes the overall gap to RapidfireAZ by 3 points, as they take 1st and 2nd this round with 58 and 55 points. delongdoug scores 51 points for 3rd and nets +1 position up to 11th overall. curley takes 4th with 47 points and moves up to 5th overall. owace takes 5th and Lisa takes 6th as they both score 45 points.
F1 heads to Germany where this season's GP will be held at the Hockenheimring. It looks like Webber and Alonso are now the driver's to beat, but can they keep ahead of the pack in this season of high parity? The German grand prix is in just 2 weeks!

To the rapture of his home fans, Alonso comes from 11th to win in Valencia. Even better for him, his closest rivals fail to score points.
Grabbing his own win this round is Double Phister with 59 points, pushing him up past owace for 2nd overall. In 2nd place this round by just a point is Motoring who vaults up 4 positions overall. RapidfireAZ takes 3rd with 51 points keeping him comfortably in the lead.
Van and Tahoe RX7 round out the top 5, with Van's 48 points moving him up 1 spot overall.
We return to the classic Silverstone airfield for round 9 in just 2 weeks! With the streak of different winners over, will we start to see some sort of consistency, or will the crazy ride of unpredictability continue?

Hamilton wins 5 years to the day at the site of his 1st F1 victory. It's now 7 different winners in 7 races, making this season incredibly hard to predict.
With the best picks this round, RapidfireAZ extends his overall lead. A big 71 points extends his lead over owace who ties for 5th this round with 48 points.
MattR takes 2nd in Canada, scoring a solid 56 points, good enough for +2 spots, slotting into 6th. Nick and Tahoe RX7 tie for 3rd at 53 points, allowing them to hold station at 4th and 5th overall. curley is the participant that ties with owace for 5th, dropping him one spot overall.
It's a 2 week break as the drivers head back to Spain for the European GP held in the port-city of Valencia. It seems impossible to guess the winner... will it be an 8th new winner in the guise of perhaps Raikkonen? Or will someone finally become the season's 1st double winner?

After 6 rounds of the 2012 season, there are 6 different winners from 5 different teams. That makes this season easily the most unpredictable fantasy season yet!
owace and Tahoe RX7 share 1st place this round with identical 53 point picks. owace remains in 2nd overall, while Tahoe RX7 jumps up an astonishing 5 places from 10th to 5th!
With 52 points, Double Phister takes 3rd in the round and stays at 3rd overall. Nick nets 40 points for 4th, and RapidfireAZ keeps his 1st place overall spot with a top-5 finish in Monaco.

Maldonado takes Williams to the top of the podium in Spain, beating a hard-driving Alonso to the chagrin of the local Spanish crowd, making it 5 different winners from 5 different constructors in 5 races.
The 2012 F1 season is shaping up to be an epic one with the incredible parity. Clearly, picking the right drivers is very difficult, as no one picks the winner in Spain. owace however does well without MAL picked, netting 57 points and moving up two positions to 2nd overall. In 2nd this round is Tahoe RX7 who moves up 3 spots on his 55 points. Also scoring 55 points is MattR, good enough to move up one notch on the standings.
Rounding out the top 5 is Nick, who moves up 2 spots to 4th overall, and curley who drops a spot to 6th despite scoring 49 points.
The biggest race of the season is up next in just 2 weeks. Everyone wants to win in Monaco, and the track is unique, rendering the already unpredictable results that much more unpredictable.

F1 has achieved parity unseen since the early 80's with 4 different manufacturers taking the first 4 races.
The crazy shift in winning teams has played havoc on the fantasy results. This week, it's RapidfireAZ who consolidated his lead with 60 points. curley grabs 58 points, moving him up an incredible 5 spots overall to 5th. Van takes 3rd with 57 points and nets 2 positions himself.
Rounding out the top 5 this week is Lisa and owace who both score 51 points. owace moves up 4 positions to 4th overall.
Those hurt the most this week are sperry and MattR, who both drop 4 spots overall down to 7th and 8th.
It's been a crazy start to the season, and now the teams get a 3 week break which will include a rare in-season test before the Spanish GP. It's a hectic season, who will capitalize on the volatile results?

Of course I choose ROS for the first two races as my underdog/dark horse pick... and then don't pick him in China.

Rosberg turns his 1st ever pole into his 1st ever win, and 1st win for Mercedes since they left the sport in the mid-50's. Schumacher's probable 2nd place finish is foiled by a loose wheel nut, allowing McLaren to surround Rosberg on the podium.
It was a tough day for folks that didn't pick Rosberg in China. Only 3 did, and they're the top 3 this round. zpeed gets the win with 53 points, curley 2nd with 51, and Tahoe RX7 in 3rd with 50 points. All 3 move up one position overall.
MattR is the best of the rest, scoring a terrific 47 points without picking the winner and moving up 4 spots overall to 4th into a points-only tie with sperry. Double Phister rounds out the top 5, scoring 42 points and moving up to 2nd place overall.
The next race is Bahrain, and it's this weekend! Make your picks!

@Van: yeah, there's some weird issues with the server's clock. I updated some of the back-end software and it's causing the system to restart frequently, and unfortunately the virtual HW clock doesn't seem to be staying correct over the reboot. I've upped the frequency of the NTP syncs so it should be a bit better, but it's still potentially an issue.

Yeah, I totally missed what happened to Vettel. Speed didn't mention it, or if they did, I missed it.
I got pretty lucky with Perez though. I was hoping for some mid-pack points... never expected to see him on the podium. Awesome job by Sauber. Does seem to put the nail in Massa's coffin at Ferrari though. :(

Man, I want a mulligan, that went about as poorly as it could have. During the speed coverage I must have missed Karthikain taking out Seb, but saw it on speed.com, what a joke.

A surprise win for Ferrari with Alonso making the most of the wet track. Perez surprises as well by finishing 2nd over Hamilton in 3rd.
Making the most of the crazy results is sperry who scores 58 points by picking the surprise podium, moving him up to 2nd overall. RapidfireAZ is a close 2nd this round, maintaining his overall lead with 52 points. Motoring and MS3 both move up in the overall standings by placing 3rd and 4th this round. Double Phister rounds out the top 5, but loses one position overall.
The teams get a few weeks to recuperate from the tough season opener and soggy 2nd round. China is next, in 3 weeks. Expect the field to be shook up again as teams react to the performance of their competition and bring car improvements to Shanghai.

I *knew* KOB was a better pick than GRO, even though Grosjean did such a great job at qualifying.
This season looks to be a tough one to pick right... I wonder how long it will take for Red Bull to catch up to McLaren, or if Ferrari will ever sort their car out.

Button takes his 3rd win at the Albert Park circuit to start the 2012 season with maximum points. Vettel fights for 2nd place, much to the chagrin of his biggest rival Hamilton who finishes 3rd.
Starting the fantasy season off with a bang is RapidfireAZ, who scores 71 points, well ahead of the rest of the field. Double Phister, MattR, owace, and Nick round out the top 5 in Round 1 with similar picks netting them between 53 and 51 points, not bad considering the huge changes in the driver lineup during the off-season, and the drastic new aero rules that have appeared to catch many of the big teams out.
Round 2 in Malaysia is next, just a week away! Get your picks in!

After Q1, I was kicking myself for dropping KOB for GRO last minute, but I guess it worked out in Q3. lol We'll see how the race goes though. My guess is KOB is probably still the better racer.

Hey everyone, thanks for signing up!
The site should have all the correct team and driver info. However I haven't yet updated/added all the related images, so some pages may look a bit sparse.
Let me know if anything looks out of sorts!
