Korea 12-14 Oct 2012Korean Grand Prix Korean International Circuit, Yeongam, South Korea Race Distance: 55 laps, 309.155 km The only new circuit on the calendar for 2010, the Korea International Circuit has been in the works since 2006. Yet another Tilke designed course, KIC follows the latest design themes of blending the circuit into a waterfront along with several long straights and tight corners to challenge the car designers and drivers alike. 2011 saw McLaren finally break the string of 15 Red Bull poles in a row with Hamilton starting 1st. But it wasn't enough to prevent Vettel from taking the win. Hamilton held on to 2nd by fighting off a hard driving Webber in 3rd. The complex corners in Korea suit the Red Bull team's resurgence as Webber and Vettel lock out the front row. Hamilton takes 3rd on the grid, just ahead of championship leader Alonso in 4th. Raikkonen rounds out the top 5, meaning the 5 top drivers in the championship are also the 5 top drivers on the grid. The top 10 in Korea: WEB VET HAM ALO RAI MAS GRO HUL ROS MSC Not surprisingly, Vettel is able to better his teammate's start and pass Webber for the lead into the first corner. From there the two Red Bull cars remained mostly unthreatened all the way to a 1-2 victory. Both Ferraris also started well. Alonso ending up in 3rd with a flying Massa chasing him down until the team ordered him to back off. Massa's 2nd great race in a row earns him a renew of his job at Ferrari for 2013. McLaren suffers greatly as Button crashes out and Hamilton fights a losing battle with tire wear ending in 10th.
