Germany 22-24 Jul 2011Grosser Preis Santander von Deutchland Nurburgring, Nurburg, Germany Race Distance: 60 laps, 308.863 km The German Grand Prix swaps back to the fabled Nurburgring for 2011. The original "Ring" was a 17 mile course created out of the village loop surrounding the town of Nurburg. Dubbed the "Green Hell", it's still considered one of the most demanding courses ever created, and is used by many auto companies for vehicle testing. Today's grand prix course is the much sterilized 3.2 mile "south loop" that features only a taste of the technical beast that was abandoned over safety concerns. In 2010 at the Hockenheimring, Massa finally had a win in the bag, until team orders required him to trade with Alonso. Vettel took 3rd. Vettel slips to third as teammate Webber takes pole along side the McLaren of Hamilton. Ferrari lines up 4th and 5th with Alonso ahead of Massa. The top 10 qualifiers in Germany: WEB HAM VET ALO MAS ROC BUT SUT PET MSC Red Bull is unseated for a 2nd race in a row as Hamilton takes his unexpectedly quick McLaren past Webber and on to victory after a race-long 3-way battle for the lead between Hamilton, Alonso and Webber. The fight between McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull was mirrored for 4th place as Vettel, Massa, and Button slugged it out. In that battle Vettel passed Massa during their last lap pit stops after Button fell out of the race with hydraulic failure.
