Round 5 Details:

Spain - 10 May 2009
Gran Premio de Espana Telefonica
Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, Catalonia
Event Description:
Race Distance: 66 laps, 190.825 mi / 307.104 km

The Circuit de Catalunya is located near Barcelona, Spain. This track includes many different elements that require a car to be well-rounded and balanced at all speeds. Traditionally, passing is rare at the circuit due to the high speed sweepers that prevent a following car from being able to keep up because of dirty air. But with the new wing rules in 2009, the course becomes a bit of an unknown again.

In 2008, Raikkonen and Massa brought their Ferraris across the line first and second. Hamilton rounded out the podium. Kovalainen crashed hard when his wheel failed.
Qualifying Summary:
Alonso sneaks into Q3 in front of his hometown fans, but only manages to start 8th.

Massa shows the improvements at Ferrari are for real, starting 4th, but his teammate shows there are still issues behind the pit wall because he's left for the second race in a row out in Q1 for simple lack of going out to run at the end of the session on the faster track.

Brawn and Red Bull continue to dominate, with 4 of the top 5 spots in Q3, and another strong showing by Toyota.

The starting 8 for Spain:

BUT VET BAR MAS WEB GLO TRU ALO
Race Summary:
A big turn-1 wreck knocks out 4 cars, including both Torro Rosso's and Trulli's Toyota.

Brawn keeps up their domination with another one-two win. Barrichello lead the team at the start, but a mid-race switch to a three-stop strategy for Reubens gives the win to Button.

Massa shows the potential of the latest version of the Ferrari F60 by running 3rd and 4th in the race, but mistakes in fuel strategy left him a lap short of finishing on pace. In order to save enough fuel to finish, Massa is forced to give away two positions and finish in 6th.

The Red Bull guys keep up their impressive pace with a three-four finish, led by Webber over Vettel.
