56 laps, 305.066 km (189.559 mi)
The Shanghai International Circuit is another Hermann Tilke track featuring a pair of long straights with passing opportunities at their ends. Additionally like the Malaysian circuit, the track features an interesting turn 1-2-3-4 complex where the drivers must navigate a long, sharply decreasing right turn, followed by a hard left hand hairpin.
The 2008 race was held near the end of the season as opposed to this year's early running. Hamilton won the race from pole while setting the fastest lap. Massa took second, just keeping his '08 championship chances alive. Raikkonen took third. |
| Qualifying Summary: |
The clarified diffuser rules seem not to help the struggling teams as qualifying sees the KERS-less Ferraris knocked out in Q2, and even Kubica's BMW knocked out in Q1.
Red Bull qualifies well, with Brawn again near the top of the time sheet, and a surprisingly fast Alonso on the front row with light fuel.

It was a full race on full wet tires, and Vettel is able to show his masterful ability in the rain, winning from pole. Webber places second to make Red Bull's first F1 victory a 1-2.
Button and Barrichello prove the Brawn still has great pace even in the wet by placing 3-4.
Kovalainen and Hamilton raise the bar a little at McLaren in 5-6.
Glock survives for 7th, and rookie Buemi grabs the last point in 8th. |
