Race Distance: 58 laps, 192.56 mi / 309.72 km
Held at Istanbul Park near Istanbul, Turkey, this course is another Hermann Tilke special. Featuring a spectacular four-apex turn 8, the "Turkish Corkscrew" turn 1, and the "Faux Rouge" kink at turn 11, this is one of the few F1 courses that are run anti-clockwise, providing a little opposite strain on the driver's necks.
Massa showed his love of the Turkish circuit by winning there for the third year in a row in a race that was dominated by tire and fuel strategy. Hamilton was able to split up the Ferraris by finishing second with Raikkonen in third. |
| Qualifying Summary: |
RedBull steps it up for qualifying putting their man Vettel on pole with nearly the same fuel load as Button in second.
Barrichello and Webber chase their 1-2 teammates to qualify in the 3-4 positions.
In what is starting to be less and less surprising, Hamilton's McLaren isn't even able to make it out of Q1.

Vettel's pole position lasts only a few corners before a mistake give the lead to Button who keeps it to the checkered flag.
In an effort to catch Button, Vettel's team makes a switch to 3-stops which backfires and actually gives second place to his teammate Webber.
Barrichello has an apparent transmission problem right at the start dropping him back immediately, and from there it only gets worse... loss of 7th gear, and eventually a DNF, the first ever for Brawn GP.
Toyota finally converts fast practice times into points with Trulli's 4th place finish. Three in a row winner in Turkey, Massa, places 6th. |
