Race Distance: 57 laps, 191.530 mi / 308.238 km
Bahrain International Circuit is another wonderful, yet somewhat sterile track designed by Hermann Tilke (the 3rd in a row on the 2009 schedule). Located in the sands of Bahrain's desert, special sprayed on adhesive along the track's race surface helps to keep the dust down. The track layout is a familiar blend of long straights and complex slow corners.
The 2008 race saw Kubica's BMW on pole, only to be relegated to third when Massa and Raikkonen jumped him at the lights for the lead, and the eventual one-two finish. |
| Qualifying Summary: |
Toyota leaps to the top of the heap in Q3 with last minute fast laps by Trulli and Glock. However, their quick laps appear to be due to low fuel level.
Traffic holds up Webber, keeping him in from advancing to Q2 and earning Sutil a blocking penalty.

For Toyota, it wasn't enough to lock out the front row as the heavier fueled Brawn of Button and Red Bull of Vettel are able to surpass Trulli who places 3rd and Glock who finishes 7th.
Hamilton and Raikkonen finally grab some points for McLaren and Ferrari with 4th and 6th place finishes.
Barrichello's second Brawn takes 5th and Alonso scores the last point in 8th. |
