60 laps, 191.603 mi / 308.355 km
Built on a WWII bomber base, the Silverstone Circuit roughly follows the perimeter road surrounding the bases three runways. The track is fairly non-technical, with long fast straights connected together by corners and chicanes.
The 2008 race was a crazy affair made so by wet weather. Hamilton showed his tremendous ability in slick conditions, winning by more than a minute over the field. Heidfeld survived for second. Barrichello took third with terrific tire strategy. |
| Qualifying Summary: |
RedBull's latest changes from master aerodynamicist Adrian Newey put them at the top of the charts. Vettel takes the pole, with Webber in third as his pole-pace lap is ruined by Raikkonen's Ferrari off-pace but on-line in front of him.
The domination of Brawn appears to be equalized as Barrichello qualifies second but Button ends up in sixth at his home GP.

Adrian Newey's latest RedBull chassis raises the bar in Great Britain. Vettel takes the win from pole, setting the fastest lap along the way. Webber passes Barrichello to make the race a 1-2 for the Renault powered team.
Massa finishes a British GP career best fourth, thanks in part to the dry weather.
Button places a disappointing sixth in front of his home crowd, only showing the normal pace of the Brawn GP car on his last stint. |
