71 laps, 305.909 km (190.067 mi)
Autódromo José Carlos Pace, otherwise known as Interlagos, which literally means "between lakes" is the site of Brazilian GP. The track is situated on a hilly, swampy area between two lakes, resulting in a track with lots of elevation changes and notorious bumps.
Traditionally, the race in Brazil is the final race of the season, and has decided the driver's championship in the last two seasons. This year, the addition of Abu Dhabi has made Brazil the second to last of the season.
Last year's race decided the 2008 championship in the last corner of the last lap with Hamilton passing Glock in the wet to make up just enough points to defeat race winner Massa for the overall championship. |
| Qualifying Summary: |
Rain delays the qualifying as well as mix up the results. Championship underdog Vettel is knocked out in Q1 when he's unable to set a fast lap during the small window when the rain let up. While second place contender Barrichello takes the pole. Leader Button will start 14th.

| Race Summary: |
With a fifth place finish worth 4 points, enough to mathematically eliminate Barrichello and Vettel, Jenson Button has secured his championship victory and is the 2009 F1 Driver's Champ.
Barrichello's pole wasn't enough for him to win his home GP. Webber was able to take the lead from Barrichello and go on to win the race. Kubica kept his nose clean to take second, and Hamilton put in a terrific drive after a fuel strategy change when an early Safety Car came out.
Vettel raced to a fourth place finish, Barrichello running up front dropped to 8th when contact with Hamilton punctured a rear tire. |
