| Event Description: |
56 laps, 305.066 km (189.559 mi)
The Shanghai International Circuit is another Hermann Tilke track featuring a pair of long straights with passing opportunities at their ends. Additionally, the track features an interesting turn 1-2-3-4 complex where the drivers must navigate a long, sharply decreasing right turn, followed by a hard left hand hairpin.
In the 2007 race, Hamilton started from pole, but ruined his race, and perhaps his championship, when he spun into the gravel just off the pit lane entrance. Raikkonen went on to win in the wet race, with Alonso second and Massa third setting up last season's incredible single race shootout in Brazil for the championship. |
| Qualifying Summary: |
Hamilton takes his 7th pole of the season with a lap 3 tenths faster than the rest of the field. Ferrari will be all over Hamilton into turn one however with Raikkonen second and Massa third. Alonso slots into fourth just barely beating out the second McLaren.

| Race Summary: |
No surprises this time in China. Hamilton turns his pole into victory, taking fastest lap as well along the way. Raikkonen puts only limited pressure on Hamilton and eventually drops back to allow his teammate to take second. Alonso puts in another good drive to finish fourth.
Going into the final race of the season, only Massa can catch Hamilton's championship lead. Seven points separate the top two going into Brazil. |
