Round 6 Results:
Monaco - 25 May 2008
Grand Prix de Monaco
Circuit de Monaco Monte Carlo, Monaco
Event Description:
78 laps, 162.24 mi / 260.52 km

The Monaco Grand Prix has been around since 1929 and has evolved into not just the most spectacular race of the F1 calendar, but perhaps the most amazing race in all of motorsports.

The course has remained nearly unchanged since the inception of the event resulting in a narrow, bumpy course where the cars race wheel to wheel mere inches away from the Armco walls. The course is so tight, the teams are forces to use one-off suspension designs to get around the tightest corner of the season.

The 2007 Monaco GP was all McLaren. Lewis Hamilton played the #2 roll to allow Alonso to win the race even though he likely had the fuel to pass Alonso in the pits. Massa finished third a full minute behind Hamilton and the last car on the lead lap. Kimi fought a crash in qualifying to finish in eighth.
Qualifying Summary:
Rain threatened the end of Q3, but the day remained dry for Qualifying. The only big incident was David Coulthard's off at Nouvelle Chicane where the Armco tore the right half of his car off and sent him down the run-off lane into the tires.

As far as qualifying results: Ferrari managed to lock McLaren out of the front row, but how light did they have to run on fuel in order to ensure the one-two starting positions?

Race Summary:
Brutal rain at the start of the race opened up the podium to nearly the whole field. Virtually no team ended the race unscathed, with even the race winner pitting early for a tire destroyed by contact with the walls.

When it was all said and done, Lewis Hamilton's McLaren and Robert Kubica's BMW were able to trump the dominant Ferrari's and score 1st and 2nd place respectively. Phillipe Massa placed third, while his teammate at Ferrari Kimi Raikkonen finished out of the points due to late contact with poor Adrian Sutil who had the race of his career taken away from him running in 4th at the time.

Mark Webber scored points yet again, this time in 4th. Sebastian Vettel in 5th and Kaz Nakajima in 7th were other surprises finishers in the points.
