Round 5 Results:
Turkey - 11 May 2008
Petrol Ofisi Turkish Grand Prix
Istanbul Park, Istanbul, Turkey
Event Description:
Race Distance: 58 laps, 192.56 mi / 309.72 km

Held at Istanbul Park near Istanbul, Turkey, this course is another Hermann Tilke special. Featuring a spectacular four-apex turn 8, the "Turkish Corkscrew" turn 1, and the "Faux Rouge" kink at turn 11, this is one of the few F1 courses that are run anti-clockwise, providing a little opposite strain on the driver's necks.

The 2007 race was won from pole by Filipe Massa, with his Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen in second. Fernando Alonso took home third after a puncture sent Lewis Hamilton from the position back to finish fifth, his first finish off the podium of his F1 career.
Qualifying Summary:
An odd tire decision by Lewis Hamilton leaves him a bit short in Q3. Hamilton's hard tires only got him as high as third. Hamilton's teammate Heikki Kovalainen bounces back from his big wreck in Spain to take 2nd position on soft tires. While Philipe Massa 3-peats a pole position start in Turkey.

Race Summary:
This year Turkey was all about tire and fuel strategy.

Lewis Hamilton stymied by his own teammate with more fuel during qualifying was able to hammer out a great start and run an aggressive 3-stop strategy to take it to the Ferraris in his McLaren while Heikki Kovalainen's turn 1 bump with Kimi Raikkonen ended his McLaren in the pit lane to replace a slow puncture.

As thing wound down, Lewis couldn't undo Massa's magic in Turkey. Winning from pole, Massa has now won the Turkish GP three years in a row. Raikkonen's third place finish keeps him in front of Hamilton who placed second. The BMW's came home in fourth and fifth. Alonso, Webber, and Rosberg round out the top eight.
