Race Distance: 65 laps, 187.942 mi / 302.449 km
The Circuit de Catalunya is located near Barcelona, Spain. Built in 1991, the track is used widely for F1 testing meaning that the F1 teams are all very familiar with the course. The track is difficult to pass at due to the high speed sweepers that keep the lead car out front as the second car fights for grip in dirty air.
To help the passing, last season's race included a new chicane before the main straight to help improve passing opportunities. 2007's race also included a classic Ferrari/McLaren battle, with Alonso and Massa bumping each other in the first corner. Massa was able to pull out a race victory, and Alonso raced on for third at his home track. Hamilton took second, putting him on the podium for the fourth race in a row. Kimi Raikkonen ended out of the points with a broken car in 2007. |
| Qualifying Summary: |
A surprise lap by Alonso put the hometown hero on pole right at the end of Q3, only to have it taken away a few seconds later by a faster Kimi Raikkonen.

| Race Summary: |
It was another Ferrari parade as Massa was able to take 2nd place from Alonso on the start to follow his teammate Raikkonen from wire to wire.
Hamilton soldiered on for a 3rd place finish after his teammate Kovalainen crashed hard into a tire wall at 180mph after a mechanical failure of his left front tire.
Kubica places fourth, followed in fifth by Webber who scores points for a third race in a row. Rounding out the top 8 were Nakajima and Trulli. |
